One of the reasons I think so many people are bored with Christianity is that they have reduced something that should be the greatest adventure known to man to a domesticated, safe, predictable lifestyle. The play-it-safe mentality has turned the New Testament church of today into an anemic, timid, scared-to-offend anyone bunch of sissies.
Jesus didn’t die to save us from pain and suffering, but from insignificance and meaningless. Living the uncivilized life involves 4 distinct things:
-
1.Risk - The uncivilized life is full of uncertainty. It is not a life of equity, which bothers many people. We don’t all get the same package. Some survive a night in the lion’s den, others wake up in eternity.
-
2.Significance - Is your priority to live a long life, or to live a life worth living?
-
3.Innovation - Between risk and significance is this thing called innovation. If you are motivated by boredom, your creativity and innovation will be self-serving, and possibly just plain weird. If you are motivated by a passion for the King and for souls, your innovation and creativity will lead others from bondage to freedom.
-
4.Transformation - The spirit of Christ in us transforms us into the image of Christ. But many Christians are suffering from identity theft, and are not living up to the potential that the resurrection power of Christ in us can bring.
God chose an uneducated, uncivilized man named John the Baptist to pave the way for the coming Messiah. What will you allow Him to do through you?
